Spirituality versus Religion

I've thought about that myself. Religion in my mind means mostly following a bunch of rules and engaging in a bunch of rituals, whereas spirituality is " about the search for transcendent meaning" (ibid), irrespective of creed.
A religious person can be a right jerk, and religion to me is tied up with being judgemental and dogmatic. Spirituality on the other hand, sees the good and wants to do good.

please don't waste you time like i did, my evil family let their little snott-nosed creeps roam around all day (they were in home school, mom was working while elder dad kicked the kids out to watch howard stern and x-rated movies) so the little freaks showed up after my kids got out of regular school.. .
wasting your time on selfish nephews and nieces is insanity, you will discover this once those golems grow up.

I heard someone got done for walking into a local church a couple of years after she stopped going. I can't confirm that though. I guess it depends on the local elders. Some probably don't care any more if you're caught smoking or something years after fading, while others will come after you with a vengeance.

funny story: yesterday i had to pick up meds for my mom and when they asked her date of birth, i couldn't remember!
the cvs druggist looked at me in a strange way until i mentioned, "sorry, but i was raised a jehovah's witness and i never celebrated her birthday".. she laughed, asked for my id, then whispered what her birth date was.. you gotta wonder what they must be thinking!.

II never acted weird when I had to tell someone or they found out as it was just a fact of my life. I never preached at people at work and everyone thought I was a nice person and tried not to offend my beliefs at Xmas time and that. I didn't get offended even if they gave me an Easter egg or something cuz they were being nice, and it wasn't offensive anyway.

The wt is adapting to the 21st c so good on them. It doesn't detract from the fact that they are a dangerous cult. And like any organization that depends on attracting the public, they have to be where the public are and make their products appealing.

Jehovah made the deal fail so I could go where they needed me more
by NVR2L8 ina few weeks back i ran into an elder at a business meeting out of town.
i had seen him there before when i was a ms. this time i had a chance to tell him that my standing in the congregation had changed and that i was inactive.
he said that sometimes we need to take some time to reevaluate where we stand in the "truth".

Or the sis I knew who prayed she would find a good parking spot at the shops. Yep, Jehovah blessed her with a parking spot, while the pioneer killed in that car accident must've pissed Jehovah off or not prayed enough specifically about having a safe car ride that day.

"before we start taking about what happened at the agm we must be absolutely certain that all the meetings are over.
make sure that we are obedient in the small things ago that we will be obedient in the big things.

To that same jw who pm'd me on fb earlier in this thread, when she earlier accused me of intense negativity when I posted some facts about YHWH, historical facts, thugs frm jw.org and bethel and wt quotes, I said, "facts are neither positive nor negative. They just are." And I think that just about sums the matter up. Facts can be used to SUPPORT an affirmative or negative argument, but in themselves they are neither positive nor negative.
Interestingl, the jw on the op who said keeping the agm secret was a matter of life and death, unfriended and had a big go at another jw who posted pics of the new bible from her agm before all the locations in the world where finished with theirs. Seriously, Jehovah must have bigger things to worry about than some doey jw putting bible pics on Facebook.
